GAMING PC BUILDING WORKSHOP
Experiential marketing event for MSI at a convention.
Experiential marketing event for MSI at a convention.
Building a PC is a little like doing Lego. It’s a lot of fun, you must connect all the parts and be a bit creative in the process. MSI understands this well and decided to teach gamers on how to build a PC.
Event concept & planning, artwork design, brand activation and on-site production.
The challenge
In recent years, the “PC Master Race” movement inspired by the exponential growth of PC gaming has taken over the internet. MSI noticed the gain in popularity of “DIY PC Building” and needed a way to connect with this new crowd of teenagers and young adults.
What we did
Event concept & planning, artwork design, brand activation and on-site production.
We worked closely with MSI & partners to design a cost-controlled marketing experiential. For this brand activation, MSI wished to attend the rAge EXPO gaming exhibition in Johannesburg, South Africa.
For three days, our talent from South Africa, DrWeez, tutored groups of 12 alongside an MSI representative in the art of building a gaming PC.
Each session lasted 45 minutes with classes rotating all day long starting on the hour. The workshop was held in a public setting, so visitors from the show could stop by anytime to listen and learn.
Brands we worked with: BenQ, Corsair, NAG and Nvidia.
Results
Fully booked several days prior to the event, the PC Building Workshop experiential was a definite success. MSI reached their target demographics with kids, teenagers, young adults and parents attending the activity.
A synchronized social media giveaway promotion run alongside the event also contributed to drive awareness. This event contributed greatly in establishing MSI as a brand that deeply cares that things are done right.
